SUMMARY:Then Sings My Soul: A Community Hymn Sing & Season Preview
DESCRIPTION:There is nothing like singing together as a group: sometimes in unison\, sometimes in parts. And singing the great hymns in full voice is a way for people to reconnect with their faith\, their cultural roots\, and with their neighbors! Inspired hymn verse and the tunes that carry that poetry have enriched communities for centuries\, and the simple goal for this event is for the Lancaster Chorale Board to organize and convene local singers to enjoy an hour of song. This season we will host a modest event\, build enthusiasm for public hymn singing\, and expand the theme to something more elaborate in the future. \nThe Hymn Sing will feature the hymn Lord of the Covenant by local composer Rev. Thurlow Weed\, who is organist and composer-in-residence of St. Johns’ Episcopal Church. Hymn text is by Rev. Christopher L. Webber\, a retired Episcopal priest and well-known contemporary hymn-writer in California.
