Daniel Neer, baritone, and the Camarata Trio (Ariane Sletner, violin, Luis Biava, cello, Suzanne Newcomb, piano)
The Otterbein University Department of Music is welcoming two guest artists – Daniel Neer, baritone, and the Camarata Trio – to perform a concert of chamber music for voice and piano trio at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12 in Riley Auditorium at the Battelle Fine Arts Center, 170 W Park Street, Westerville. This event is free and open to the public.
Daniel Neer is a singer, librettist, and lyricist based in Washington D.C. He has roots in the Columbus area, and has visited Otterbein University for several two-week residencies in recent years, which include mentoring students and performing. The members of the Camarata Trio are Suzanne Newcomb, piano, Ariane Sletner, violin, and Luis Biava, cello. Suzanne Newcomb is a member of the piano faculty at Otterbein, and the Camarata Trio has performed at Otterbein in the past. This is the first collaboration between Daniel Neer and the Camarata Trio. The program, titled “im/permanence,” will feature vocal chamber music by Lori Laitman, Amy Beach, Ethel Glenn Hier, Ellen Mandel; the world premiere of BABEL by Otterbein faculty member Jennifer Bernard Merkowitz; and folk song settings by Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Joseph Haydn.
